Deputy Director of Aviation

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director of Aviation is
responsible for the oversight of the fixed base operation (FBO), airport operations, security, maintenance, planning, and development activities.
This position is a newly created position that supports the Executive Director in the planning, direction, and management of defined strategic objectives of the Naples Airport Authority. The role will work closely with the Deputy Executive Director to ensure continuity and coordination of organizational goals. As an executive team member, the incumbent will develop and execute strategic and operational business plans and activities that foster the vision and advance the mission of the airport. Principle accountabilities include establishing and implementing management practices and procedures that promote safety, security, efficiency, superior customer service, and business continuity. The Deputy Director of Aviation will oversee an array of human capital resources and will be expected to inspire, motivate, and challenge individuals to fulfill their potential in support of achieving the departmental objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all FBO, operations, maintenance, and construction activities are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and meet the operational demands of the users, stakeholders, and community.
The Deputy Director of Aviation will recommend and oversee the implementation of the airport master plan and related initiatives, including but not limited to those pertaining to environmental compliance and stewardship, sustainability, and resiliency. This position will be called upon to meet with customers, tenants, elected officials, other government officials, business and civic leaders to discuss technical matters and future planning endeavors as well as working closely with internal and external stakeholders in support of the timely achievement of strategic projects and initiatives.
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in the related field to the area of assignment, and; ten (10) years of related experience and several years of successful senior-level experience in airport operations in a comparable or larger size airport; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred credentials include professional certification as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) of American Association of Airport Executives or International Airport Professional (I.A.P.) of Airports Council International and/or a master’s degree. The individual will possess excellent strategic thinking, communication, and customer service skills. Previous experience with General Aviation management or overseeing airport operations, development, FBO services, and airport maintenance preferred.
