    Mojave Air and Space Airport (MHV)

     

    Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Director of Planning leads the airport’s project management, planning, engineering, environmental, design, and construction efforts. This position organizes the execution of airport capital program, airport master plan, and any architectural or engineering-related initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    Core Functions

    • Evaluates and executes the airport’s capital program by planning and prioritizing capital projects, project programing to meet stakeholder needs, development and management of project budgets and implementation schedules, and stakeholder coordination during implementation
    • Ensures that all development complies with applicable FAA design standards, operating requirements, and administrative requirements
    • Effectively communicates to internal and external stakeholders on technical subject matter expertise for fast and economical response in lieu of use of external consultants
    • Facilitates and reviews the construction of improvements made by the airport’s tenants
    • Supports the preparation of federal, state, and local grant applications when necessary for funding

      

    Examples of Work

    • Develops and oversees implementation of FAA infrastructure grants
    • Creates and presents plans to improve the perimeter road to the rocket testing area
    • Creates and presents plans to construct a concrete pad to hold aircraft preparing for space launch missions
    • Assists customers with development of precise development plans prior to permitting
    • Completes AutoCad drawings as exhibits for contracts and updates schematics as needed
    • Works with staff, including architects and engineers, and construction/design firms to communicate information regarding regional land use, planning, and development issues, including vetting proposed projects in the region to confirm compliance with the ALUCP

    Qualifications

    Requirements

     

    1. Bachelor’s degree
    2. Proficient in the use and application of AutoCAD
    3. Experience in design, construction, engineering and/or planning

    Preferred Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
    • Five (5) or more years’ experience in civil engineering
    • Familiarity with relevant FAA requirements 

    The ideal candidate will have experience in the drafting of lease exhibits for airport stakeholders and tenants. Experience in design, construction, engineering and/or

    planning and a familiarity and comfort with relevant FAA requirements are desirable.
